Sport is very important for our health.
It includes all forms of physical activities or games. The games in sports maintain and it can improve physical ability and skills. Usually, it provides enjoyment to participants. We can also notice entertainment for spectators in some cases.
In our universe, there are more than hundreds of sports.
In the lists, there are sports from those between single contestants, through to those with hundreds of simultaneous participants.
We can recognize them and organize it either in teams or competing as individuals.
In racing, several contestants may compete.
As usual, it can be presented simultaneously or consecutively.
Then, we will find one winner. In others, the contest shall be presented between two sides.
Some sports allow a "tie" or "draw".
By this way, there is no single winner. Others ensure only one winner and one loser. Thus, we can easily have a number of contests. They may be arranged in the game in order to produce a champion.
Many sports have an annual champion and we can do that by arranging games in a regular sports season. [League is an example.]
Sport is generally recognized and based in great physical actions with the largest major competitions such as the Olympic Games.
However, I learned there is a number of non-physical activities which claim recognition as mind sports.
Recently, the international sports federation association recognized five non-physical sports:
3. Draughts (checkers),
5. And Xianggi
Until now, they limits the number of mind games which can be admitted as sports.
At the same time, most of the mind sports are practiced in Asian countries.
Let us keep in our mind that real sport shall be governed by a set of rules. Normally, it serves to ensure fair competition, and allow consistent adjudication of the winner.
For example, winning can be determined by physical events such as scoring goals in Football or crossing a line first in race.
It can also be determined by judges who are scoring elements of the sporting performance but it is usually accompanied by objective or subjective measures. And we can do that for several activities such as technical performance or artistic impression.
According to A.T. Kearney, a consultancy, the global sporting industry is worth up to $620 billion as of 2013. And we are pretty sure that it is growing for the following years. Today, the world's most accessible and practiced sport is running but association football is the most popular spectator sport.
